All the Sex News That's Fit to Publish
I recently had the pleasure of attending "Sultry Verses," a virtual erotic poetry reading that pushed the boundaries of intimacy and connection in the digital realm. In this cozy online setting, a diverse group of poets shared their sensual verses, weaving a tapestry of desire, passion, and vulnerability.
As I listened to the poets' words, I found myself drawn into a world of raw emotion and honest exploration. The virtual space allowed for a level of openness and connection that might have been daunting in a physical setting, and I was struck by the bravery and talent of the readers.
My thoughts on the experience are still unfolding, but I'm eager to dive deeper into the ways in which erotic poetry can bridge gaps and spark connections in the digital age. Stay tuned for a more in-depth exploration of this unforgettable night!

Recent Perversions
I experimented with Substack's AI image generator again, this time entering the word "kink." The result was an intriguing image of a twisted, metallic sculpture.
For me, "kink" represents the thrill of exploring the uncharted territories of desire, where the norms are bent and the unusual becomes alluring. It's the whispered secrets, the hidden fantasies, and the unbridled passions that make our hearts race. Kink is the acknowledgment that our desires are complex, multifaceted, and worthy of celebration. It's the freedom to embrace our true selves, without judgment or restraint. And, of course, it's also the inspiration for some amazing erotic poetry and stories!
Now, I'm curious – what does "kink" mean to you?

My short story, "The Scopophiliac," is nearing completion. The protagonist, Stuart, finds himself entangled in the adult film industry, leading to unexpected consequences. Here's a sneak peek at the next paragraph:
Stuart's encounter with the religious tract lingered in his mind, echoing the themes of his latest script for an adult film. He wondered if the Mark of the BEAST was a metaphor for the industry's grip on his life - the way it consumed his every waking moment, the pressure to constantly produce content, and the blurred lines between his on-screen persona and real-life desires. Was he just a pawn in a larger game, forced to conform to the expectations of producers, directors, and audiences? The more he thought about it, the more he realized that the tract's ominous warnings about the dangers of temptation and corruption seemed to parallel the darker side of the industry he worked in - the exploitation, the objectification, and the endless pursuit of pleasure at any cost. And yet, he couldn't help but feel drawn to the edge, curious about what lay beyond the boundaries of his mundane existence in the world of adult entertainment.

Dirty Pitches
This week, I received a pitch for a new sex toy that promises to revolutionize solo play. The toy is a teledildonic device that uses AI-powered haptic feedback to simulate the sensation of a partner's touch. The Echoist, as it is called, claims to learn your desires and adapt its movements accordingly, creating a truly personalized experience. But what really caught my attention was its ability to sync with virtual reality environments, allowing users to immerse themselves in fantastical worlds while receiving real-time stimulation. The pitch described it as "a portal to a realm where pleasure knows no bounds," which sounds like either a dream come true or a descent into madness. I am both intrigued and terrified, and I might just have to try it out to see if it lives up to its promises.

What I’m Obsessed With
Portishead's “Sour Times” is seeping into my pores, its haunting vocals and twisted beats igniting a fire of frustration and desire. Beth Gibbons' voice is a sultry snarl, a provocative whisper that taunts me with the darkness that lurks within. The music is a slow-burning caress, a seductive knife that cuts through the facade of control and unleashes the primal urges that simmer beneath. It's a sonic manifestation of the fury that fuels my passions, a raw and unbridled energy that cannot be contained. I'm consumed by its intensity, and I'm powerless to resist.

From the Archives
Revisit my 2012 essay “The Pornographer's Dilemma,” where I explored the ethical complexities of being a journalist writing about porn, including the risks of objectification and exploitation, navigating consent and power dynamics, avoiding voyeurism and sensationalism, mitigating stigma and shame, and maintaining personal boundaries and emotional well-being when exploring explicit or traumatic content. Little did I know, writing about porn would become the most interesting thing about me at cocktail parties.
[Editor’s Note: I never wrote an essay with this title, but I probably should.]
