In this week’s edition of The Reverse Cowgirl Roundup: a model drops trou in the city that never sleeps, ghosters explain why they ghost lovers, an old photographer of nudes gets his due, the first iPhone porn app launches in Europe, and more.
This week’s featured photographer is Nikola Tamindzic, who shot the provocative photo at the top of this newsletter. The 2015 image appeared in Tamindzic’s Fucking New York, which Maxim called “a striking tribute to the passion and hustle that makes the city tick.” You can follow him on Instagram here.
Looking for a last-minute Valentine’s Day gift for the object of your affection? I’m a big fan of Cartography’s jewelry for men and women. My most recent acquisition is this anatomical heart locket with a pew-pew in it. There’s also one with a heart in it and one with a middle-finger in it.
The New York Times Magazine has a feature on the practice of ghosting. With interviews by Stella Tan and illustrations by Liana Finck, this spread exposes why lovers disappear without notice, with and without regrets.
Late last month, Plainclothes screened at Sundance. The Hollywood Reporter’s David Rooney deemed the movie a “sexy, sad, authentically gritty drama.”
“Plainclothes follows a young cop assigned to a sting operation, arresting gay men cruising for sex in a mall in Syracuse, New York. His willingness to pose as bait dissolves when he starts facing his own sexual identity while getting obsessive about a similarly closeted hook-up.”
Would you buy this nudist resort seen on Zillow Gone Wild? It reminds me of the time I was on an adult movie set and there were a lot of stains on the sofa upon which I was sitting. Later, I joked the sofa got me pregnant. (It didn’t.)
These days I’m obsessed with the photography of John Kayser. Starting in the Sixties, he photographed naked women in his Los Angeles home. This incredible body of work was only discovered after his death in 2007. Kayser is in a few, including pics in which a woman steps on or sits on his face.
ICYMI, last week I got an advance look at the newly revamped Playboy magazine, which has returned to print with an annual edition. From my review:
“Editorially, it offers up a view from nowhere, its unarticulated, nonexistent messaging signifying nothing. The only insight one can surmise from this magazine-as-cultural-artifact is that when one seeks to steal sex back from the internet, one will inevitably fail.”
How did I miss Human Cock Fighting? Training: hard. Doping: banned. Performance anxiety: man up or GTFO. Thanks, Sean Bonner.
If you’re an adult film star, don’t name yourself after a legendary couture house. The fashion house Dior blocked the X-rated actress Gigi Dior from registering her stage name with the US Patent and Trademark Office. FAFO, I guess.
Speaking of adult content, the first native iPhone porn app has launched in the EU. It’s called Hot Tub. Apple is not a fan, per se.

WOW. The Kayser photos are amazing. Reminds me of unfound artists who do their own thing with no input. Often discovered after their death. These are also such a time capsule. Thanks again for finding another great interesting artist!
