In this week’s edition of The Reverse Cowgirl Roundup: a bird’s-eye view of a model, a review of a comic book by a man who paid for sex, a brothel manager tells all, Playboy returns to print, Jeff Bezos’s fiancé shows some cleavage, and more.
The stellar photograph above was taken by my photographer friend Steve Diet Goedde and features Olivia Black. Steve has published several books of his work, and I’m a big fan of his Monthly Print Subscription, which delivers a limited signed mini print to you every month. Follow Steve here and Olivia here.
Over on my blog, I wrote a short review of Chester Brown’s Paying for It, a graphic novel memoir about his experiences paying for sex, which is soon to be a movie. In my review, I also mentioned Letters From Johns, a blog I ran for a year where I published anonymous emails men sent me about why they paid for sex.
What’s it like to manage a legal brothel? Catherine De Noire spills the beans on how she balances pursuing at PhD in organizational psychology and overseeing the day-to-day operations of a European brothel. From panic buttons to customers who refuse to leave, it’s all in a day’s work.
Did you know Playboy magazine is returning to print—annually? Their 2025 cover model is Lori Harvey, and while Harvey is a lovely woman, I didn’t find this choice particularly exciting. You can preorder the issue here.
The 2025 AVN Awards, otherwise known as “the Oscars of Porn,” took place in Las Vegas, Nevada, last weekend. Among the winners, a few standouts:
+ Best Niche Series or Free-Form Line: Hentaied (which I wrote about here)
+ Clever Title of the Year: “My Talking Penis Told Me to Fuck My Step-Mom” | Fill Up My Mom/Filthy Kings
+ Mainstream Venture of the Year: “Houdini” – Eminem (Music Video) | Ryan Keely & Samantha Mack (which you can watch here)
The New Yorker’s Naomi Fry spent time studying Lauren Sanchez’s cleavage, which was abundantly on display at President Donald Trump’s inauguration as she stood next to her fiancé Jeff Bezos. “The whole thing was giving gross teen sex comedy, but with tech moguls,” Fry dours. For my money, I salute Sanchez’s display. At least it wasn’t boring, like First Lady Melania Trump’s don’t-look-at-me boater-style hat.
When Bill Gates sat down with The Wall Street Journal editor-in-chief Emma Tucker to promote his forthcoming Source Code memoir, Tucker asked Gates about his previous meetings with the late financier and notorious perv Jeffrey Epstein. “Do you think, looking back at that moment, that you were being played?” Tucker queries. “I was quite stupid,” is Gates’s response.
Recently, I got pitched a story that Crazy Horse 3, a strip club in Las Vegas, has added “VIDEO GAMES, STRIPPER KARAOKE AND A POPULAR FLOOR PARTY GAME THAT CHANNELS FLEXIBILITY AS NEW VIP ROOM AMENITIES.” Personally, I don’t think of a strip club as a place where I want to play Twister, but then The Daily Mail suggested this is some sort of possible tie-in to the strip club drama Anora, which got nominated for four Academy Awards, so I guess that makes sense?
Makeup artist supreme Pat McGrath has released Glass Skin, a bottled version of the skin mask she used to coat models’ faces at the 2024 Maison Margiela show that went viral, as part of her Skin Fetish line. The look reminds me of what one sees on the actress’s face after a while at a certain kind of adult movie shoot.
I just bought this: “Artist Michella Bredahl and Lotta Volkova collaborated on a series of 26 photographs, published by everyth!ng, visiting dancers in Paris homes and studios, working with the Miu Miu AW 2024 collection to create an extraordinary series.” Edition of 300. Get yours before it’s too late.

Oh Playboy. Welcome back. I cant believe they ever went OUT of print. Boner move. I love that magazine and was a subscriber for years before they went all digital (hated that so I cancelled). Didnt know they were printing again- thank you for the news! I just pre ordered :)
The Paying For It movie is already out (it played festivals and I think opens a bit wider this month) and it's great, kind of a different vibe than the comic version though.
