In this edition of The Reverse Cowgirl Roundup: things heat up on the beach in Fort Lauderdale, a sex worker breaks down “romance labor,” a former adult star reveals her most intimate procedures, a lauded lenswoman gets censored, and more.
The spectacular photo at the top of this newsletter was taken by Miami-based videographer and photographer Ben Amare and features the stunning Fosh. Clearly, Ben has a hard job, but someone has to do it, dammit.
Fellow Substacker and former sex worker Cherie Penarska, who publishes the there from here newsletter, wrote about the sex-worker-movie-of-the-moment Anora and shared a link to a must-read essay by sex worker Marla Cruz that considers the movie through the lens of “romance labor”:
“The phrase ‘sex work is work’ has become something of a liberal tick, a knee-jerk response from establishment figures in politics, media and the arts to acknowledge the shifting social attitudes around prostitution without asserting material gains like decriminalizing sex work or codifying legal and civil protections for sex workers.”
I really want this Jean Paul Gaultier Iconic Madonna sweater that makes it look like there are boobs attached to the front of it. Only $1,210.
Producer Greg Scarnici is working on a documentary about Robin Byrd, who you may remember prancing around half-naked on your late-night television screen if you’re of a certain age. The project is looking for people who want to share their memories of her. Call the number or drop a comment on their ‘gram.
Lana Rhoades gave her vagina a glow up. Also, she’s autistic.
Scruffy is a line of adult-themed dog toys. “Plushie Smut for the Naughty Mutt” is their motto. My favorite is Wanda DelPoochie.
If you’re in the mood for extreme comics, I recommend Parasitic City #0.1. Created by Shintaro Kago, it’s for anyone with an amputee fetish, a bio-clothing fetish, a bio-furniture fetish, a bio-prosthesis fetish, or a bio-firearm fetish.
The New York Times has a spate of older women-and-sex journalism as of late. See: “At the Movies, the ‘Older Woman’ Is Growing Up” by Amanda Hess, “What Dr. Ruth Left Behind” by Jennifer Schuessler, and “‘The Last Showgirl’ Review: Pamela Anderson Is Dazzling” by Manohla Dargis.
Legendary photographer Sally Mann is being censored in Texas. Outrageous.
The interview I was set to run last week will be running later this week. It’s about sex, a celebrity, and what happens when you penetrate the penis market.
